He was a foster son of Peter Nickel (b. ca 1741) #86038 (B. H. Unruh, p. 242). Henry Schapansky thinks that he may have been the son of Johann Neufeld (b. ca 1760) #43811 (The Old Colony, p. 256). If so, he was likely the same as Johann Neufeld (b. ca 1782) #192327.
