Funeral services for Elizabeth Kroeker will be held Friday, June 25, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. in the Corn Mennonite Brethren Church, with Pastor Ken Gardner and Pastor John Flaming officiating.
Interment will be in the Corn MB cemetery under the direction of Kiesau-Marler Funeral Home. Obituary
Elizabeth Dyck was born to David H. and Elizabeth (Lizzie) Nickel Dyck on December 22, 1919, six miles southwest of Corn. She was called home to be with her Lord on Monday, June 21, 2004 at 6:45 a.m. at Corn Heritage Village. She had reached the age of 84 years, five months, and 29 days.
She attended Grandview School near her home for the first eight grades. She went on to graduate from Corn Bible Academy.
She accepted the Lord as her Savior and was then baptized by J. J. Wiebe and became a member of the Corn Mennonite Brethren Church on Oct. 10, 1937.
She was married to E. R. Kroeker on Dec. 22, 1940 in a double wedding ceremony with her sister, Mathilda, and Manuel Foote. A couple of years later Ed and Elizabeth bought the family farm where they lived until April of 1977, at which time they moved to their home in Corn.
Two children were born to this union, Virgil Dean and Larry Deon.
Mom was a Sunday School teacher for about six years in the 1950s. She enjoyed the Junior Sewing Circle. Later in life she was a part of the Senior Singers. She was an immaculate housekeeper, liked to quilt, sew and do gardening, both vegetables and flowers. Her grandchildren benefited from her sewing.
Family devotions were held every morning at breakfast, using either the Daily Bread or the Bread of Life. We remember prayer meetings held in our home.
In their later years, Mom and Dad spent many winters in South Texas and Arizona in their travel trailer. They made many new friends doing this.
The grandchildren would come and spend time in the summer. Mom would make lunch for the harvesters and she and the grandchildren would picnic in the field with them. They also had picnics at the river when they weren't working. She enjoyed finding wild flowers to make bouquets and picking sand hill plums. She made wonderful cinnamon rolls, zweibach and pie. She was an all around, very good homemaker.
Mom moved to the Corn Heritage Village apartments in September 2001 about three years after Dad's death and was there until December, 2002, when she moved into the Village. It was not easy for her to make these transitions.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Elizabeth Dyck; her husband E. R.; one infant brothers, Harry Gene; one brother, John N. Dyck, and one sister, Mathilda Foote.
She is survived by her sons, Virgil Dean and wife Marilyn of Oklahoma City, OK, and Larry Deon and wife Eugenia, of McKinney, TX; five grandchildren: Teresa and husband Darwin Kauffman of Apple Valley, MN; Julie and husband Dan Wilson of Giltner, NE, Melissa and husband Doyle Jost of Hillsboro, KS; Angela Kroeker, Frisco, TX; and Chad and wife Diana Kroeker of Burleson, TX; ten great-grandchidlren: Eric, Audrey, Luke and Emma Kauffman; Claire, Grant and Kendal Wilson; Emily and Sarah Jost; and Ethan Kroeker; one brother, David and wife Donna Dyck, Reedley, CA; one sister, Marie and husband Elmer Jantz, Lynchburg, VA; three sisters in law, Ella Dyck, Cimarron, KS; Lydia Kroeker, Corn; Christine Gunther, Reedley, CA; two brothers in law: Pete and wife Salome Kroeker, Reedley, CA; Jacob and wife Georgia Kroeker, Lexington, KY; nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mom will be missed for her loving concern and care for all of us, and for her concern that all of her family members would know the Lord.

They also made frequent visits for lunch to the Cordell Senior Citizen Center. He also liked his morning start with the coffee shop crew. He was the “go-for” for the family farm corporation in his retired years. He still drove tractor and planted wheat at any opportunity.
